Sassy Seven

Happy birthday, sweet Sassy!

It's hard to believe that you are seven and this is the 5th birthday you have celebrated with us.

You have grown so much this year, physically and mentally.  You've grown inches and lost 4 teeth. Oh man, were you so excited to be able to sing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.". (That day you pulled your 4th tooth out, THE awful tooth, I wonder if you knew exactly why all the adults in your life were so excited.  I asked how much you thought it was worth.  When you said $200, we talked you down and the tooth fairy brought $5.  But I know she or he probably would have paid $200 ;)

And can we talk about your smile?!?  Your smile warms up the world.

As a first grader, you've learned to read, write words and sentences, add, and subtract.  You've seen the world around us change and quite literally, your whole world has changed yet again, and you've rocked it.  You've flourished in quarantine and virtual school life, even though you miss your physical school, teachers, and friends.  You absolutely love "my Biden" and think he is so handsome.  You are also pretty excited about "the girl" vice president.

You are so very loving and wildly creative. You love to draw, craft, imagine, and play. You love so well.  You have a huge heart for God and others.  You are the first to volunteer to pray and to ask for the sickness to end and everyone to be healed.

You love to dance with abandon and let the music move you in your own unique way. You most definitely are not afraid to be yourself. You went to your very first rock concert (and our last in-person event for the foreseeable future) and you fell asleep from rocking so hard to Ledger that you missed Skillet.  This year you learned how to ride your bike without training wheels.

Your best friend is Skye. You are attached at the hip to each other, loving each other and driving each other insane, but hating being away from each other.

We love you so much, Sassilita, and look forward to seeing the girl and woman you are becoming.  You are fierce, my child.  Here's to sweet and sassy seven!

I love you always and forever, no matter what.
Mama
