Already Three

Happy birthday beautiful Skye-Skye!

I can't even believe you are already three.
You are a force to be reckoned with. Obviously your calm, sweet baby months were a ruse. 😉  You are little miss independent. You do what you want, when you want. You've taken up slamming the doors and locking yourself in rooms.  Your spirited nature will make you a strong, fierce woman!
But you have a soft, tender heart inside that rough and tough exterior. The last time I was home sick, you rubbed my feet with lotion and covered me up with a blanket.  You love to help, whether it is taking out the recycling, washing dishes, or cooking.

It seemed to take forever for you to potty-train, stops and starts for a year, but once you set your mind to it, you were done. Now you just disappear, even in public places, to do your business, and you are shocked when Mom, Dad, and Grandma get freaked out about this.

You have started talking more and more.  Your favorite phrase is "jus' a lil' bit".  If someone doesn't understand you or you don't want to talk, you will make up your own sign language and big gestures to get your point across.
You love the nursery at church and the second we pull into the parking lot, you start squealing and can barely contain yourself.
You are so funny and you have THE BEST smile I've ever seen and a contagious laugh.

Your beautiful, bouncy, crazy, curly hair is a world unto itself. Just like you, it can not be tamed.

You love to draw, read, play dress-up, sing and dance. Boy, oh boy, do you love to eat!

Your very favorite thing in the world is Daniel Tiger.  You stomp your feet and yell "Don-ell" if you get outvoted during TV time, hoping you'll wear us down and get your way.  You could barely contain yourself , waving and yelling, when you saw the trolley going down the street in Park City. When we rode it, you sat so still and reverent. I didn't think the smile would ever leave your face when the driver let you ring the bell.

Your sissy "Lessi" is your very best friend. You were distraught when she and Xavier went back to school in September and again after Christmas. Even though you like your alone time, you love when it's time to go pick her up again.  I can't imagine how your heart will break when she starts Kindergarten in the fall and is gone all day.

I often wonder how long you've been waiting to be the same size as Lex.  When I happened to mention that you could start to wear her clothes, you spent a whole week going straight to specific dresses on her side of the closet you've been scoping out for some time.

You continually rock my world.  From minute one, you've taught me it was possible to love another person as much as I loved the first.  As you grow and change, becoming an intelligent, inquisitive, headstrong little lady, I'm both awed and melancholy at the thought that every new change is the very last time we will go through that stage.

I love you to the moon, my sweet love!
Mama
