Finally Five

Dearest Lexi-Lou,
Today you are finally five, although you've been telling everyone since the day after your last birthday that you're almost five.

You have an incredibly big heart and you love everyone.  Any time you meet someone new, they instantly become your best friend. Although your true best friends are Bubba and Sissy.

You love babies, real or doll, and have a sweet, soft mommy voice when you talk to them.

You love unicorns and can spend hours telling us about your castle on the mountain, where you have unicorns and mermaids, and you are the princess.

You love to sing, loudly and with all your heart. Whether you are in the back seat of the car, making us giggle, or in church, sharing your love and the depths of your heart.  Even before we started regularly attending church in November, you loved to tell us about your best friend God, who you loved so much. I have no doubt that you know Him and remember how He kept you safe in those moments of your little life.  You love to be the first one to pray and tell God "thank you for these blessings. I hope you are good".

You absolutely love school and can hardly wait for Kindergarten in the fall.  This year in preschool you have learned to spell your name and the six letters you recognize are A L E X I S. You can count to 13 and also know some of the 20s.

You begged us to let you start bowling this fall, and even though it can be difficult for you, your excitement when you try is contagious.

You are a girly girl. You still love spinny dresses. For Christmas, the only thing you wanted was sparkly shoes and were so excited when Grandma got them for you.

In May, we finally were able to finalize your adoption and officially give you the name you've always known was yours.  And in December, after six months of fighting with social security, we had a dance party in the kitchen knowing we were finally through the very last hoop.
It seems like just a few days ago we met the tiny little 23month old who stole our hearts and took my breath away.  I look forward to seeing where five takes you.

I love you always and forever, no matter what!

Happy birthday sweet girl!
Mama
